WHY

Why does this website exist? Well, I guess I’m a sucker for a domain name. Since 2002 I’ve been an active member of the online art and blogging community. I’ve been hosted at such (now defunct) sites as silentscream.net, i-loca.net, and soul-reflector.net, as well as having my own site mariloca.net. Looks like .net’s were popular back then, huh? Since then, I’ve obviously become a .com. How corporate of me.

But more so than just being a domain hound, I’ve been around the internet a long time (I made my first website in 1997), and in that time I’ve made a lot of friends, friends who to this day I remain close to and cherish. I’ve never met most of them in person- but they’re wonderful people who I can’t imagine not knowing. So I guess another part of it is that I like the people it exposes my world to. I like getting feedback on things, and “venting.” I like virtual discussions, sharing ideas, and the dialogues that having a blog opens up. Maybe I’m just a verbal (or is it textual) exhibitionist?

Basically I like having space to share my thoughts, successes, sometimes failures, and recipes with people.

I hope other people enjoy reading it, ’cause otherwise I’m just a fool with a website typing to herself.
